Then during the school year… I rearrange everything.
I think planning really helps me, though. I know where we are, where we should be at, and what needs to get done this week. That way, if we need to run a drywall lift to another city or take a child to the doctor in the middle of a Tuesday I know how to organize Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Scheduling also keeps me from buying too much curriculum or too many books. Don’t laugh! If there were endless hours in the day, I would be teaching 30 subjects – with glee. Alas, there are only so many hours and the kids do still need to play. The schedule helps me know what’s reasonable.
A couple of weeks ago, I shared Our 2013-2014 Curriculum for the 4th and 5th Grades. The picture above is our schedule for next year.
Every homeschool is different. Some families school in the evenings, some on weekends, and some live their learning. I am going to share some links to other scheduling posts and freebies you may find helpful. I’m also posting printable downloads of my schedule form in case it’s helpful to you. One form has the times and days of the week printed and the other is blank. Just click on the picture to download!
